Micro-blogging site looks for profit
Twitter, a micro-blogging site, announced that it is going to launch tools and services by this year end to help businesses serve their customers efficiently and is likely to charge fees for the services.
Twitter’s Co-founder Biz Stone said: “We’re looking at who’s using Twitter and for what. Are there any commercial usages that are making a lot of sense?”
The company is hoping to use its popularity to drive a profit.
Stone said “phase one” of that effort identified how people use the service.
In the second phase, it is planning to launch tools and services for companies that would use Twitter to message customers.
The company said the tools would be simple such as lightweight analytics.
