TIBCO to expand its SOA lifecycle governance offering

CBR Staff Writer Published 09 July 2009

The new offering encompasses both lifecycle and operational governance

TIBCO Software plans to expand its SOA governance offering to include support for HP SOA Systinet lifecycle governance software for enterprise customers.

According to TIBCO, its ActiveMatrix policy manager and ActiveMatrix service performance manager combined with HP SOA Systinet are expected to reduce the risk and complexity associated with adopting SOA including identifying and defining appropriate services, managing the lifecycle of service assets and measuring effectiveness.

The company said that its new governance offering encompasses both lifecycle governance and operational governance. Lifecycle governance refers to the process of identifying which services are needed within an organisation in addition to identifying requirements needed to create, utilise and retire these services. Operational governance refers to managing policies and performance guarantees that dictate how these services operate throughout the enterprise.

TIBCO's ActiveMatrix platform reportedly enables companies to integrate their IT applications into a technology infrastructure. It allows customers to implement governance across the SOA stack from start to finish of business transactions.

Raghu Thiagarajan, senior director of product strategy at TIBCO, said: Companies around the world have selected TIBCO to create an enterprise-grade SOA infrastructure that can integrate, deploy, and manage their services effectively. These companies now want to leverage their SOA infrastructure to offer a multitude of new services. They want to avoid the blind spots in upstream activities such as service ideation and development.”
