SAP releases mobile apps for retailers market

CBR Staff Writer Published 16 January 2013

The new app are aimed at allowing retailers to deliver an enhanced channel experience to mobile devices and mobile equipped in-store associates.

SAP has released new mobile apps including SAP Customer Loyalty, On-Shelf Availability Manager and Retail Store Ops Associate, for the retail market which claimed to help retailers to engage with customers and improve the shopping experience, while maximising customer reliability.

SAP Mobile Division president and head Sanjay Poonen said with 70% of consumers grabbing for their phone while shopping, it's not surprising that mobile commerce revenue is expected to explode to $1 trillion by 2017.

"It's natural that people want to connect with their favorite brands on their mobile devices, whether on the couch or in the store," Poonen said.

"This presents an opportunity for retailers to meet consumer demand, using mobile technology to deliver superior customer service, drive brand engagement and create unique experiences designed to suit the consumer need in a format they want."

The SAP customer loyalty app will allow retailers to send offers directly to mobile phones of customers and can also provide real-time access to important information including rewards granted, points available and status levels.

Store associates will be able to access information in back-end systems through an intuitive user interface, and could also answer customer questions.

SAP On-Shelf Availability app will also monitor sales transactions, identify inconsistency in sales patterns that might be associated with product availability on the shelf and alert retailers regarding the issue.
