Precise unveils new offering to monitor cloud

CBR Staff Writer Published 02 September 2010

Adds quality of service for apps running on cloud or virtualised environments

As revealed by CBR last year, Precise has announced its transaction performance management offering that is designed to ensure quality of service (QoS) for applications running on public or private cloud platforms at the Global 5000 and their global ISPs.

The company said that its new offering Precise for Cloud, has been designed to solve the most pressing issues facing cloud architects and virtualisation managers: application QoS, performance problem isolation, and problem resolution.

The new offering enables IT executives to consistently monitor performance, predict and isolate issues, and over time optimise applications running on virtual and physical infrastructure. It currently supports any public or private clouds that make use of VMware virtualisation.

Enterprise Management Associates research director of Application Management Julie Craig said that Precise for Cloud delivers deep visibility to transactions executing in the cloud from the perspective of the virtualisation layer.

"Tight integration with VMware vSphere provides visibility through VMware vMotion migrations and automated provisioning/deprovisioning, showing which applications are running and where, and how, resource utilisation impacts physical and virtual layers," Craig said.
