Java7.0 version is offered with Linux on x86 and ARM processors

Oracle has unveiled the new Oracle Java Embedded Suite 7.0, which is an embedded middleware suite for Java SE Embedded and is expected to facilitate application development over a range of embedded systems.

Featuring an enhanced version of GlassFish application server and the Jersey Web services framework, the new suite allows application development operating on Java SE Embedded 7, the company said.

The suite, which is offered with Linux on x86 and ARM processors, enables application development systems that include network appliances, healthcare devices, home gateways and routers and large peripheral devices, including multi-function printers.

According to the firm, the new suite offers compliance with the Java Servlet 3.0 specification, allows protected web service hosting, static and dynamic web content and client access to RESTful web services.

The suite is pre-incorporated with web server, web services and database technologies, in addition to an application framework, into an enhanced standards-based solution for embedded devices.

The new Java7.0 version offers configuration options that allow deployment-specific tuning and performance enhancements.

Oracle also revealed that Java Embedded technologies main elements of its 'device to datacentre' platform, facilitating deployment of Machine to Machine (M2M) applications.
