Extend the Global Logistics Network's cloud-computing capabilities

Descartes Systems Group (DSG) and Microsoft have collaborated to fuse technology for Descartes' SaaS 3.0 offerings on Descartes' Global Logistics Network (the GLN).

The GLN is being extended using Microsoft's Cloud Services Platform, Windows Azure as its preferred technology.

Descartes is also unveiling its new SaaS 3.0 strategy to extend its GLN SaaS technology platform with cloud-computing capabilities designed to meet customer needs for enhanced business agility.

Descartes SVP of R&D Frank Hamerlinck said, the collaboration with Microsoft gives their customers increased enterprise agility by providing component based solutions in the cloud.

"By uniting the GLN services with the Windows Azure Platform, our customers and partners can have robust and reliable solutions that are easily accessible and open for integration," Hamerlinck said.

Microsoft director of Americas for the Windows Azure Platform Nicole Denil said, Descartes is moving ahead with a well thought out hybrid approach to cloud computing.

"Windows Azure will allow Descartes to quickly extend their Global Logistics Network based on customer demand, while keeping costs low," Denil said.

"We are excited to see Descartes federate its network with Azure and look forward to our continued strong partnership."
